Educating the heart – miguel ángel santos guerra

It is not an essentially technical phenomenon but an ethical one. It is therefore essential to ask who benefits when it is done and who it harms, what values it serves and what values it destroys.
It is essential to improve the practices it addresses. The metaphor of the arrow hitting the bull’s-eye makes it clear that evaluation can be used to classify, compare, select or simply grade. It is necessary, however, to use it to learn and to improve student learning, school dynamics, teacher training and the implementation of reforms.
Miguel Ángel Santos Guerra is Professor of Didactics and School Organization at the University of Málaga.
